The ARt of doing business.....or something like that!

I'm 63....I've earned a living by working since I was 16.  I have always loved what I have done, some jobs more than others.  Nothing can compare to my "job" now....Never have I felt more like I now have something to share, not just my art but the creator who gives me breath to do it and to share it and to share his word and his grace and his comfort and his joy along with it!!!!! Rosiewildwoman Art to Wear....

Below is a devotional I get each day from http://www.adevotion.org.....Every day it is good and relevant, today more than most.....

Do Business For God

LUKE 19:13,15 ESV
13 Calling ten of his servants, he gave them ten minas, and
said to them, 'Engage in business until I come.'
15 When he returned, having received the kingdom, he ordered
these servants to whom he had given the money to be called to
him, that he might know what they had gained by doing business.

Your working life is supposed to be for more than just meeting
your needs. Your work is an avenue God can use to bless people
in many ways. You should use all that you have been given: your
influence, your contacts, your profits, to bless people and
turn them toward God.

Many people won't listen to a pastor or TV preacher, but they
will listen to someone they know and contact in daily life.

You don't have to be a pastor or a priest to walk with God and
be used by Him. Think of Abraham, David, Moses, and Daniel. Not
one of them was a preacher or a priest. Instead, they were all
involved in agriculture or government, what we consider as
secular jobs. Yet they are among the most famous and revered of
Bible characters.

Also we should keep in mind that Jesus of Nazareth spent most
of His years on earth as a carpenter -- a businessman -- not a
preacher.

COLOSSIANS 3:23 NLT
23 Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were
working for the Lord rather than for people.

You can see God move just as much in the work place as at a
church meeting. God is interested in blessing people right
where they are.

Where you work and spend your time is your "world." God does
not expect or ask most people to win some other country for
Him. God expects you to be a witness right where you are. Be a
witness of God's blessing and goodness and love. You don't have
to force your beliefs on people, but let your associates and
customers and suppliers and co-workers see God's blessing in
your life, and as you have opportunity let them know it is
because of God's grace and goodness -- which is also available
for them.

SAY THIS: I will bloom where I am planted and faithfully use
what God has given me for His glory and the growth of His
kingdom.

Art Yarn Meets Rosiewildwoman

I am learning to spin and what I want to spin is big, chunky, textured yarn.  Then I want to use that yarn to embellish my hats, pins, jewelry and anything else I can get my hands on.  So that is what I am doing and I am liking it!  The hat is comprised of scrap material from another project sewn together and then embellished......

Easter Blessings

LORD,
Thank You for the gift of HOPEYou gave us on Easter morning.
Because of You we know
That no problem is too difficult
And even death does not have power over us.

Thank You for the gift of JOYYou gave us when You were resurrected.
Because of you we know
That no matter how challenging life may be,
In the end we will rejoice again.

Thank you for the gift of LOVEYou gave us when You laid down Your life.
Because of You we know
That there is no sin too great to separate us
and we are incredibly valuable to You.

Thank You for the gift of LIFE,
You gave us when You left the tomb.
Because of Easter we know
this world is just the beginning
and we will spend forever in heaven with You.

We celebrate You, JESUS,
With hearts full of praise and gratitude
For who You are and all You've done for us!

Jesus First then the Easter Bunny

I'm 62, how long have I had Easter in my mind but really never thought about it.  As a child it was a time to wear beautiful dresses my Mom handcrafted for my sister and I.  It was a time to eat chocolate, it was a time to hunt for Easter Eggs.  We went to Church but it never sunk in, the chocolate talked and I listened.

For years my eyes were closed and my ears could not hear.  Then, the veil was miraculously lifted but beyond that, when it lifted, I chose to see and I chose to hear.  Through it all, we have free will to accept a relationship with God or not.  The cross, which is the great evidence of his LOVE for each of us, stands as a fork in the road and its there that we decide whether to turn to God or to turn from God.  Once you see and once you hear things change and what you accepted or tolerated before can no longer be the reason for your existence.  As a parent, I was not a born again Christian, I did not lead my child towards the light.  For this, I repent and I am forgiven.  So....my question to myself is this????  What can I do to share God's LOVE with the people I love?    I can remember, a long time ago, my dear child getting on a bus that came through the neighborhood for a local church on Sunday morning.  I can remember my husband and I being frantic that our child had been kidnapped, tortured, killed, lost to us forever.   I can remember finding him hours later sitting the the last row of the Church listening to the sermon. The people lost were my husband and I, not Michael,  and we were lost for many, many years.  We lost our Child at 13, I lost my husband at 60 and I found my soul at 58.  I do not believe my child is lost, nor my husband and I know now I am not lost and I look foward to seeing them again.  I pray that God will use me to share his gift of eternal life to all who chose him above the world and all that is in it.   Something that burns in me now is to know what I really didnt care about before.  So in researching Easter, it's all about Jesus first and the Easter Bunny second.

Theological significance from Wikipedia

The New Testament teaches that the resurrection of Jesus, which Easter celebrates, is a foundation of the Christian faith.[6] The resurrection established Jesus as the powerful Son of God[6] and is cited as proof that God will judge the world in righteousness.[7] God has given Christians "a new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead".[8] Christians, through faith in the working of God[9] are spiritually resurrected with Jesus so that they may walk in a new way of life.[10]
Easter is linked to the Passover and Exodus from Egypt recorded in the Old Testament through the Last Supper and crucifixion that preceded the resurrection. According to the New Testament, Jesus gave the Passover meal a new meaning, as he prepared himself and his disciples for his death in the upper room during the Last Supper. He identified the loaf of bread and cup of wine as symbolizing his body soon to besacrificed and his blood soon to be shed. 1 Corinthians 5:7 states, "Get rid of the old yeast that you may be a new batch without yeast—as you really are. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed"; this refers to the Passover requirement to have no yeast in the house and to the allegory of Jesus as the Paschal lamb.[11]
One interpretation of the Gospel of John is that Jesus, as the Passover lamb, was crucified at roughly the same time as the Passover lambs were being slain in the temple, on the afternoon of Nisan 14.[12][13] This interpretation, however, is inconsistent with the chronology in the Synoptic Gospels. It assumes that text literally translated "the preparation of the passover" in John 19:14 refers to Nisan 14 (Preparation Day for the Passover) and not necessarily to Yom Shishi (Friday, Preparation Day for Sabbath)[14] and that the priests' desire to be ritually pure in order to "eat the passover" in John 18:28 refers to eating the Passover lamb, not to the public offerings made during the days of Unleavened Bread (Leviticus 23:8).

God Provides the Hot Chocolate. ENJOY!

Hot Chocolate

A group of graduates, well established in their careers, were talking at a reunion and decided to go visit their old university professor, now retired.

During their visit, the conversation turned to complaints about stress in their work and lives. Offering his guests hot chocolate, the professor went into the kitchen and returned with a large pot of hot chocolate and an assortment of cups - porcelain, glass, crystal, some plain looking, some expensive, some exquisite - telling them to help themselves to the hot chocolate.

When they all had a cup of hot chocolate in hand, the professor said: 'Notice that all the nice looking, expensive cups were taken, leaving behind the plain and cheap ones. While it is normal for you to want only the best for yourselves, that is the source of your problems and stress.

The cup that you're drinking from adds nothing to the quality of the hot chocolate. In most cases it is just more expensive and in some cases even hides what we drink. What all of you really wanted was hot chocolate, not the cup; but you consciously went for the best cups... And then you began eyeing each other's cups.

Now consider this: Life is the hot chocolate; your job, money and position in society are the cups.

They are just tools to hold and contain life. The cup you have does not define, nor change the quality of life you have. Sometimes, by concentrating only on the cup, we fail to enjoy the hot chocolate God has provided us. God makes the hot chocolate, man chooses the cups.

The happiest people don't have the best of everything. They just make the best of everything that they have.

Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply.Speak kindly...

And enjoy your hot chocolate.

Beginnings

Nothing can explain placing fibers in your hand and encasing a piece of your art glass in the fibers, wetting it, soaping it and rubbing it....You lose your place in the present and you fall back to a time when all the rubbing brought needed shelter and warmth. Now all the rubbing just creates art. This piece of wool and glass in your hand is alive. It wants to be manipulated and the softer the touch, the more it responds. You totally encase the glass until it disappears in a mat of fiber. You then cut to the heart of the glass, revealing its beauty and at the same time protecting it with the fiber. I am so intrigued.....

Living a Fruitful Life

In this world we are surrounded by family, friends, acquaintances, and strangers who expect us to be what they need and want at whatever particular moment they come in contact with us. When their expectations are met , through God's grace, everyone benefits. When their expectations are met because the person feels an obligation to please someone else and be something they are not or do something they do not want to do, then everyone suffers and the only fruit produced is pain, resentment, anger and more.

An important Revelation in my Life

Today my wonderful husband and I have begun the journey of reading and discussing the entire bible in one year.

Why Read The Bible?

"I'm a busy person. I have a lot to do. Why should I spend my
time reading the Bible? I don't have time to do all I need to
do as it is."

"I already believe in Jesus Christ, that He's the Son of God
and my Savior. I've already heard the Gospel."

"Why should I read the Bible?"

Please think about the following Scriptures. Then, you will
understand why you should read the Bible.

JOHN 8:31-32 RSV
31 Jesus then said to the Jews who had believed in him, "If you
continue in my word, you are truly my disciples,
32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you
free."

JOHN 14:23-24 Rieu
23 Jesus replied: 'If anyone loves me he will cherish my word;
my Father will love him and we will come to him and make him
our abode.
24 He that does not love me neglects my words. Yet the word you
hear is not my own but that of the Father who sent me.

ACTS 20:32 NKJ
32 "So now, brethren, I commend you to God and to the word of
His grace, which is able to build you up and give you an
inheritance among all those who are sanctified.

I will be 61 years old January 27, 2009 and for all this time I thought I was a Christian.  But I knew nothing of nor tried to live God's word and desired to just believe and leave it at that feeling pretty smug that I was guaranteed a spot in heaven THE IMPORTANT REVELATION IN MY LIFE TODAY IS THAT: Until  3 years ago I was one of the ones that was going to be left behind during the Rapture.  Given a second  chance but having to endure horrific times.  NOW....being born again, I desire and yearn to know and follow God's word and I KNOW I have graduated to being one of the ones NOT left behind.  Thank you Jesus for taking the veil from my eyes!!!!

IN ALL OF CREATION....GOD'S HAND APPEARS

On the eve of a wasteful spending political campaign on all levels of our government.....is anyone asking where the bailout money went??? or why so much money is spent to try to make up my mind for me when I can read, decide and vote all on my own without the help of the special interests....Still voting my values based on God's word....Rosie the wildwoman

ENTHUSIASM

The Artist Way 2008 Oregon Coast Word Cloud and beyond

From Jalene: I don't know exactly what you're up to but, I love it.

This journey of exploration has been unlike any other experience in my life. The reading opened me to new ways of thinking and feeling while the tasks challenged me to go deeper into myself. Being with other like-minded women felt like a warm, safe blanket wrapped around me as I delved into the new world inside me. As this journey comes to a technical end, I find a particular knowing coming to me over and over in many diverse situations. "I am enough."

From: Joy: What a rush! It was refresher course on how to live life and a jolt in the arm to push me toward following my writers’ call. Wonderful wild women doing wonderful wild things in a mundane and tame world. Wild women rock!

From: Merry Ann: Having a mind set that God created me creative has changed a lot for me.  I will take care of the quantity and He will take care of the quality.  Those are brand new thoughts for me.  Even taking care myself as an artist has been an amazing growth process for me.  The morning pages have put me in touch with my self.  The comment of Jalene that "If I'm not in touch with me, who's going to be?" really is so true.  I pour out my soul in "blurts" which was also a new concept for me.  Playing was also a forgotten past time.  I am now playing at my art.  I have a easel and a drafting board both.   The easel is brand new and I don't know that I would have purchased it if I hadn't had the Artist Way going for me.  I do need to spoil the artist in side of me with a purchase every now and then.

Each chapter in the Artist Way has given me insight into my own art work.  Rosie noted that as soon as I started to give my sketches to people I had a break through.  That was the direct result of my answer to the question, "What would I do if I had all the money I could ever use?" "I'd give my art away and never care that people understood the poetry in the drawing."    Rebecca and Jalene and Mindy being connected to the Sitka Center made me remember how much I have loved that area for decades - since the 70's.   The experience of glazing plates sang a new melody into my heart.  I was enchanted by the heron I would see every morning and had a chance to draw him in quick glazes that stayed in place.  Rebecca let me use one of the nicest brushes that practically painted by itself.  Mindy reminded us that glazing is chemistry.

The night that Rosie, Mindy and I painted my patio will live on for probably a century because concrete lasts forever.  It was more than fun; it was a dream coming true.  What a great reminder of a way of living that expands your vision of art to the ordinary and beyond.  Rosie inspires me with laughter and how she really gets excited about art work.  She is like an energy tonic.  She could create a Jackson Pollock extravaganza before she knew who he was.  She is greatness personified.  Unintimidated with the formal art world she moves into a larger arena gracefully.

Joy made me understand that I could be the patron for my own work.  The synergy of artist is one of the most nurturing feelings.  The Artist Way taught me to be free and supportive of the other artists who come into my life.  Appreciation is part of it, but there was so much more as each week the synchronicity of the weeks miracles was reported to the group.  There were miracles in my life that I  might have seen but more likely I would have dismissed them as coincidences.  I

Even my real estate work has turned into a more creative path for me.  Certainly the Artist Date each week made an impression on me.  Buying frames instead of a TV and putting up my art work changed my view of me.  I have always suspected that if I didn't do art work I would find destructive things to do to myself and one of those things is food.  The Artist Way 2008 on the Oregon Coast helped me lose about 14 lbs.  Being happier and playing with the art materials has been a breakthrough on so many levels I can hardly tell you how much more alive I feel.  Oh by the way my real estate production has taken off during this period as well so there goes one more myth I might have held onto.

From Rebecca: I'm so grateful to this little group for the constant support and thoughtful gatherings we have had over the last 12 weeks. Even when we weren't able to meet regularly or veered from the week's agenda, just knowing the group was there and committed to the same path was deeply restorative and reassuring. I especially loved our actively creative meetings when we drew or painted while we talked about the Book and Exercises.  I would love to reconvene again in the future and see what changes we've all made.  Thanks so much for everyone's devotion to me and  this worthwhile process. You have all been so generous!

From Mindy: Artist way has been a deep adventure into the motivations of my soul. I have learned to understand my weaknesses and push my strengths. I have a special place in my daily routine for Morning Pages and have sacred ferocity for artist dates. Mostly though I have enjoyed spending time with you wonderful ladies.

From Rosie: ..Who would have known the scope of our wonderful journey we have traveled with The Artist Way 2008 Oregon Coast.  One moment in time, the wheels are set in motion and the journey begins.  How can I convey to each of you what you mean to me.......The Artist Way was the fabric but you all are the glue.....You set in motion a feeling of sameness, of friendship, of playing, of listening to the beat of everything that we humans are.....6 women, all different but the same......I can not tell you what this has meant to me....This bond has pushed me farther than I probably wish to go.....The Artist Way and you all came into my life for a purpose and I can feel it helping me with my walk in this world.....I want you all to know.......How much I appreciate each and every one of you....

It's About Common Courtesy NOT Customer Service

I just got off the phone confirming a reservation I have at an RV park. I am a happy person(even when things are not going my way) and I have a cheerful voice. Actually, I am a delight to talk to.....But it seems no one has the time to talk as the phone clicked dead in my ear before I got a chance to say "THANK YOU" for answering my question.

Get real folks...... the customer has no more rights than the employee....

The pedestrian has no more rights than the motorist

the bicyclist has no more rights than the car

the personal pulling out on to the highway has no more rights than the person traveling on that highway..

Our only claim to fame and a joyful life is "COMMON COURTESY"..... if we exercise that in our lives.....we will enjoy our journey, find bliss and just be a really nice person to all we come in contact with....
