SUMMATION

Summation!!!! 1988 God brought me to Oregon to escape my first husband's coccaine addition. We thought we were taking our savings and building a house in Depoe Bay overlooking the ocean.....God thought different. 

We bought 1.2 acres of land on Highway 101 with a shack on it. We built Aunt Rosies Discount Mall, a flea market and for the next 10 years had the time of our lives making a living doing what we loved to do....Buy and sell junk.....We became friends with a wonderful woman Linda Danna who owned Whale Cove Restaurant which had the BEST fish and chips, cinnamon buns and clam chowder in all of Oregon.

 Then Bob got sick and 3 years later died....Everything that has been dear and near to me has died.....My son, my husband....I have been left with nothing..... 

 and then....it's God's turn.....through my best friend, Linda Danna, his first wife I am introduced to the man I will live the last 1/3 of my life with and we, together, will glorify God through it all!!!....

 So....let's cut to the chase.....now....the legacy built has come to and end and daily since July 21, 2014 there has been a parade of people who know me come through the door and their questions echo in my ears. What are you going to do? where are you going? and it goes on and on. 

15 years ago I picked up the book "Purpose Driven Life' by Rick Warren. I opened it....and it said!!!! "Go to Church!" I slammed it shut and opened it again and it said...."Go to Church" I could do nothing less than obey....and so the journey began of my walk and relationship with my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ...... 

 Yesterday, while sitting on the pot, my favorite place to talk to God......I picked up Rick Warren's book..."Daily Inspiration for the Purpose Driven Life " and here are the guidelines for the rest of my life!!!!! Everything below is from Rick's book and I thank him for the inspiration he has gotten from God to share with others.

 Living with Purpose: Many are the plans in a man's heart, but is the Lord's purpose that prevails...Proverbs 19:21 

 Living on purpose is the only way to REALLY live. Everything else is just existing. Unfortunately it's easy to get distracted and forget what is most important. To prevent this, you should develop a purpose statement for your life and review it regularly.

 What is a Life Purpose statement? It is a statement that summarizes God's purpose for your life. "Our purpose is to please God, not people. 1 Thessalonias 2:4

 It is a statement that points the direction of your life. Know where you are headed and you will stay on solid ground. Proverbs 4:26 

It's a statement that defines "success" for you. I want you to understand what really matters. Philipians 1:10

 It is a statement that clarifies your roles. You will have different roles at different stages in your life, but your purposes will never change. 

It is a statement that expresses your shape. It reflects the unique ways God made you to serve him. So I serve my God in Worship, in discipleship, in ministry, in mission, and in fellowship (the hardest for me)

My goal is to measure up to God's plan for me. and I know that the more I listen, the more I will hear what that plan is....So....the Rosie chapter ends and a new chapter is born and I look forward the journey......Rosie

Enlightened one day at a time…...

The end of a day…..Successful….86 years old…..just sold $165.00 worth of my creations…..Creations I have been creating for ever since I moved to Oregon…..I am an artist…..I create….people buy my work…..But you see…..I am 86 years old and my whole life has changed. I can no longer drive….I have traded my independence for a senior living center. Yes….I have a one bedroom beautiful apartment and all it is to me is Jail!!!! Mind you……..My state of existence would be the same in my own home…..but I would blame my inability to cope on things that are much more comfortable if I was at home…..Where I am at is glaringly uncomfortable. Too much going on, too many activities, I feel overwhelmed and then….you see….I have become acustom to living alone….. Mind you…that was not always so…..I had a mission before…..I took care of my MOM until I could no more…..and NOW….that is where I am…. My daughter taking care of me until she can no longer……But here's my dilemma … I have made money……I told my daughter what good is it to make money and not be able to spend it!!!!! Can't shop, can't go where I want….do not feel good…..Oh, Lord. you are SOOOO amazing in your answers to these questions……..What to do!!! at this time in my life…..when abundance flows to me…..what should I do…..Thank you Lord for your gracious answer……Share your ABUNDANCE with those who need it!!!! It is as simple as that!!!! It is so amazing how easy it is when you listen to God!!!! Oh….how I ramble….at 86 it come with the territory….What I have said may make sense….it may not…..no matter….who it is meant for will understand and those who don't….God always gives us SECOND CHANCES!!!! and thirds….and fourths……until the end……Thank you Father….

wow...3 months since I posted last. God is doing amazing work in my life and blessing me with amazing insight into his word.  Our relationship is growing stronger and stronger each and every day.  Most of my posting has been on my facebook page and I am continually blessed with the messages from people I have subscribed to.  Deeper and deeper, deep unto deep, standing strong in the light of Jesus Christ....I eagerly press on in the word.   Nothing else makes sense in this world.   I am so glad this world is temporary and the greatest adventure lies ahead.  I am preparing for it with great joy.

Why All Roads Do Lead to God

Critics of Christianity are almost universal in their complaint of Christians being narrow-minded, arrogant, and intolerant where other beliefs are concerned. How can Christians think their way is the only way, and their road is the only one that leads to God? 

It’s far more politically correct today to either denounce religion in total or espouse the famous lines spoken by Gandhi years ago: "One may drink out of the same great rivers with others, but one need not use the same cup" and "the soul of religion is one, but it is encased in a multitude of forms."[1] 

It’s no secret that I’m a Christian, but I will say this: I believe it’s absolutely true that all roads lead to God. How can that be? Let me explain.

Why It Matters What You Believe

Let’s all agree about one thing: thinking rationally, logically, and having an exclusive mindset where truth is concerned is important. It really matters what you believe. 

While Christians are consistently criticized for holding an exclusive stance in regards to spiritual truth, it’s actually the only way any belief or system can be intelligently followed. If you believe this to be untrue, just think about how we practice exclusivity in other areas of our lives. 

We practice exclusivity in:

• Marriage: Saying "yes" to your spouse means saying "no" to everyone else (unless you’re a polygamist).
• Government: Anyone want to try to run Democracy and Communism simultaneously in the same country?
• Economic policy: Capitalism and Marxism don’t make good bedfellows when tried together.
• Mathematics: 2+2 will forevermore equal 4 and nothing else.

Trying to mix and match any competing belief system—spiritual or otherwise—simply results in chaos and incoherent thinking. The truth is, no matter what they say from a surface level perspective, all worldviews champion an exclusive set of teachings in one way or another; Christianity is not alone in that regard. Why might that be? 

While the idea of pluralism [2] may be acceptable in areas of taste, it isn’t in the area of truth. This is why the noted philosopher Mortimer Adler said, "In history, mathematics, science, and philosophy there is room for competing and conflicting theories, hypotheses, doctrines, or propositions, only as long as no one of them is, at a given time, established as true." [3] 

The practical reason of why Adler is correct comes down to the fact that every worldview teaches that consequences exist for being wrong. All believe that the right answer to any question or situation being must be given. Without a right answer, an undesirable outcome will likely result. 

This is valid not only in the spiritual realm, but in the natural world also. For example, a person having a stomachache has a wide variety of choices to cure their ailment—everything from antacids to chemotherapy—but what they need to take all depends on the correct answer to the question, "What’s wrong with my stomach?" 

An almost always overlooked fact is that every religion and belief system in the world gives different answers to three critical questions in life:

1. What is the most basic metaphysical reality?
2. What is the most fundamental human problem that we face?
3. What is the solution to that problem?

Trying to reconcile the answers provided by all worldviews is impossible. There may be some similarities and overlaps, but in the end, there will be major differences. This fact was summed up nicely in a stanza of Steve Turner’s poem "Creed":

We believe that all religions are basically the same,
at least the one that we read was.
They all believe in love and goodness.
They only differ on matters of
creation sin heaven hell God and salvation. [4]

Because consequences exist in this life for being wrong and making incorrect choices, why think anything will be different in the next life (assuming one exists)? This is why it matters what you believe about God and truth in general. 

It goes without saying that eternity is an awfully long time to be wrong.

Why It Doesn’t Matter What You Believe

Believing the right things certainly matters. But what this equates to is an understanding that is likely to go against the politically correct thinking in vogue today, which is that just believing something doesn’t make that particular something true. (e.g. "Christianity might be true for you, but not for me...") 

Put another way (and in a very real twist), while we’ve just discussed why what you believe matters, it also doesn’t matter what you believe. Truth is truth whether you believe it or not. 

Today, so much emphasis is put on sincerity. What matters, we’re told, is that you sincerely believe what you do. No, it doesn’t. You could be sincerely wrong. 

Another line of thinking is that as long as you have a strong desire and/or motivation for your worldview that’s what will eventually carry the day. No, it won’t. You can have a strong desire that the yellow liquid you just drank was lemonade and not poison, but if it’s poison, you’ll still end up in the ER or morgue. 

This is the danger of pluralism that nobody talks about. While we can treat other people with dignity and respect where their beliefs are concerned, we should also understand that having a sincere faith and strong desire that a belief system is true—even when it isn’t—can backfire in a terrible way.

Why All Roads Lead to God

The understanding of why it matters and doesn’t matter what a person believes leads us to the conclusion that—contrary to what many Christians say—all roads do indeed lead to God. How? 

Because if God exists, when you die, you will meet Him. Regardless of the "road" you’re on. It doesn’t matter if you’re an atheist, Hindu, Buddhist, agnostic, or evangelical Christian. When you leave this life, the road you’re on leads straight to Him. 

But what happens then? 

While what you believe about God right now doesn’t matter one bit regarding whether you’ll eventually meet Him or not, when you do come face to face with your Creator, what you believe about Him and what you have done with His truth will matter greatly one nanosecond afterwards. 

You see, while all roads lead to God, only one road leads to His forgiveness, mercy, grace, and eternal life. All other roads lead to His judgment. 

This is by His design. If there was any other way or road that led to God’s place of forgiveness, then Jesus wouldn’t have gone to the cross. In the garden, the Son said, "My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me" (Matthew 26:39; emphasis mine). If any other road was viable, Jesus would have been given it. 

Instead, Jesus went to the cross, took upon Himself the sins of those who put their trust in Him, and delivered us from the wrath of God that should rightly fall on those who ignore His gift. This is why He calls Himself the way (John 14:6) and not away; why He describes Himself as the door (John 7) and not just one door of many. 

When we say it’s only through Jesus that eternal life with God is possible, we’re not being arrogant, intolerant, or narrow-minded. To speak the truth is the most loving thing a person can do. 

When the only Man ever to die, go into the grave, walk back out, and stay that way, says He is the only way, the only truth, and the only life were God is concerned, we should listen. 

If you haven’t done so yet, so should you.

We live in confusing times. Fewer and fewer churches are teaching clearly and unashamedly from the Bible, the Word of God. Fewer and fewer Christians are reading the Bible for themselves. Meanwhile, the voices in our culture that promote choices and lifestyles that are contrary to biblical teaching are becoming louder and more convincing. As a result, many Christians are genuinely confused about what to do, what to believe, and what to say when it comes to issues surrounding marriage, family, and sexual morality.

On September 9th, 16th, and 23rd, I will be preaching a series called “Family Matters,” which will explore what Scripture has to say about this difficult and important subject. On the 9th, we’ll begin by looking at passages from Genesis 1 & 2, Matthew 19, and 1 Corinthians 6, to get a basic understanding of what the Bible says about marriage and sexual morality. Among other things, we’ll address the topics of divorce, cohabitation, and extramarital sex. On the 16th, we will address the delicate and confusing topic of homosexuality as we take a close look at Romans chapter 1. Finally, on the 23rd, we’ll take on the painful issue of abortion through a study of Ezekiel chapter 16.

Along with these sermons, we have a unique opportunity to reach into our community with the good news that life, truth, and hope can be found in Jesus Christ. On Friday, September 21st, we’ll be showing the film October Baby at Faith Baptist. This movie was created by the same Christian filmmakers who produced Courageous and Fireproof, and addresses abortion from a personal, biblical, and hopeful perspective. I’m praying that it will open our eyes to ways God wants to use us as His hands, feet and voice in this dark world.

Please be praying with me that even through these deeply challenging topics, the Gospel of Jesus Christ would change lives in Lincoln City. I value your prayers for myself and for Faith Baptist as we enter this important season in the life of our church. God’s Word has power! May He be glorified as we proclaim it.

God Made LIFE and it is GOOD

GOD MADE LIFE AND IT IS GOOD

God's main purpose is to prepare us to be fit companions for

Himself for eternity. (See Romans 8 -- we WILL be conformed to

the image of Jesus Christ.) What God wants you to do is submit

to Him, feed on His Word, be thankful, walk in faith, and let

Him make you like Jesus Christ.

God's plan is good.

Marriage is good. If we disobey God by husbands not loving

their wives, and wives not respecting their husbands -- it can

be bad. But only because we make the wrong choice, to disregard

God's instruction.

Work is good. It is satisfying to do a job well and accomplish

something. But when we don't do our work as unto the Lord, ortry to make our jobs our source, worshiping and serving moneyinstead of God -- work can be bad.

Family is good. Being surrounded by those you love and care

for, and who love and care for you, is a wonderful blessing.

But, when we fail to walk in love, and allow strife into our

relationships -- it can be bad.

If your life is not good, then you need to make adjustments

based on the Bible.

When you see your cup as half full, instead of half empty --

life will be better for you. Take time to smell the flowers,

and rejoice in all the goodness of God. Rejoice in all the

beauty of God's creation -- life.
